Clean Your Coffee Pot

Does your coffee pot look a little grungy? No one wants to pour their morning coffee from a grimy coffee pot. Place a couple tablets of denture cleaner where the water goes and run a couple of cycles in your machine to remove the grime.

Disinfect Your Coffee Maker

If cleaning your coffee pot with denture cleaner isn’t your style, then try using vinegar in your coffee maker. Place four tablespoons of white vinegar mixed with warm water in the water reservoir and run the cycle. Then run it once more with only water to help eliminate any vinegar smell.

Disinfect Your Keyboard

With everyone using the computer either for work or school it is even more important to disinfect your keyboard. You would be amazed how much bacteria can live on your computer keyboard. Using a half vinegar and half water solution can kill the germs. Grab an old toothbrush and lightly scrub in between the keys.

Disinfect Your Sponges

Did you know you can disinfect your sponges? Using a sponge to clean the counter tops seem like a great idea unless you are spreading millions of bacteria throughout your home. Placing a damp sponge in the microwave for 90 seconds on full power can reduce the bacteria level.

Steam Clean Your Microwave

We all know that cleaning the microwave can include using some elbow grease. Place a bowl of hot water in the microwave for 5 minuets. The steam created by heating the water will loosen the grime in your microwave making it easier to wipe off with a cloth.

Stains

Vinegar is known for its many uses. We all hate to see water stains on our glassware and vinegar can be the solution to that problem. Start by mixing 50/50 water and vinegar and then apply it to the water stains. After letting it sit for about 15 minutes use a toothbrush to lightly scrub the residue away, rinse the glass, and wipe the surface clean with a soft towel.

Clean Your Cast Iron Skillet

Cast iron skillets can be your favorite pan to cook in but make sure you are cleaning it properly. Instead of using liquid soap use a potato. That’s right. Pour coarse salt into the cast iron skillet and use half a potato to rub it in until the food has broken up and can be rinsed off.

Burnt-On Mess

Place a few sticks of rhubarb and some water to a pan and bring to a boil. Let the rhubarb simmer for about 5 minutes. When the water has cooled down, wipe the pan with a scrubber sponge to lift up the mess.

Scratched Plates?

Do your plates look scratched with use over time? We all know that feeling when we notice that the once small scratch mark on our plate suddenly becomes noticeable. Create a paste by mixing baking soda and water, buff the paste into the scratches, then rinse it away with water and watch the scratches disappear.

Clean Your Blender

Cut your work in half and make your blender clean itself. After you have finished using the blender fill it with some warm water, baking soda, and soap blending it for a few seconds. Give it a quick rinse in the sink or place it in the dishwasher.

Is your garbage disposal starting to smell? Try adding some cut lemons down the drain into the disposal when you turn it on for a fresh scent.

Clean Your Wood Cutting Boards

Clean your wooden cutting board with a lemon too. Get rid of difficult stains on your wood cutting board by rubbing it with salt and a lemon, and then rinse.

Clean Your Pans and Cookie Sheets

Are you tired of your cookie sheets and frying pans looking well used with random grime stuck on them from enjoyed meals of the past? Then place the pan in the sink with soap, warm water, and a dryer sheet. Yes, a dryer sheet. Leave it alone for an hour or two then rinse with warm water. Vodka is more than just a drink and is also known to remove mildew. Use a spray bottle filled with 50/50 mixture of vodka and water. Spray it on the affected areas, leave it on for about 10 minutes then wipe it away with a cloth.

Clean Your Toilet

Having trouble finding bleach? Try Kool-Aid lemonade powder. Sprinkle the lemonade powder in the toilet, let it sit for a few minutes, brush down the side and then flush.
